Lenten Reflections: Forty Things I Really Like And… (Day 18)–I want a chance

Giving a chance to succeed. I love the Susan Boyle story . I think what happened to her at the beginning speaks for itself. She just wanted a chance to have ‘her dream’ fulfilled, and she got a good one, took it, and took the hearts of many or most who heard her sing for the first time on national television. That she was able to do more with that chance should excite us to ‘never judge a book by its cover’.

We are often not so good at giving others a chance to succeed, instead, setting up opportunities for others to fail.

Professional international economist, recently retired from an international organization. I use blogging as a way of organizing my ideas and thoughts about a range of topics. I was born in Jamaica, and spent many years being educated, living, and working in the UK. I lived in the USA for a few decades, and worked and travelled abroad extensively.
